Blyde River Canyon
The Blyde River Canyon, located in the northern parts of the Drakensberg escarpment,
is the third largest canyon in the world and the largest green canyon.
It stretches over 27 Kilometres and is over 800 metres deep.
Look out for the Three Rondavels and the Kadishi Tufa Waterfalls.
The Three Rondavels' distinctive shape is the result of erosion and the peaks are named after Chief Maripi Mahile’s three wives – Magabolie, Mogoladikwe and Maseroto.

A boat cruise on the Blyde River Canyon reveal a rare living tufa waterfall said to be the second highest tufa waterfall in the world, dropping 200 metres from its limestone shelf to the water of the Blydepoort Dam. The formation of the Kadishi Tufa Waterfall resembles a crying face and is referred to as the “Crying face of nature”.

Bourke's Luck Potholes
Named after the 18th century gold prospector, Tom Bourke, who had a claim nearby, these enormous potholes are carved out of red sandstone where the Blyde and Treur River meet. Walkways and pedestrian bridges allow visitors to explore the natural beauty.

Waterfalls
The Lisbon falls, situated in Lisbon Creek, is the highest waterfall in the area at +- 90 meters and is named after the capital of Portugal. The waterfall is easily accessible and not a lot of walking is required.

God’s window
On a clear day, God’s window offers a panoramic view of the lowveld. Comfortable shoes are a must as the view point is at the end of a steep pathway through a natural forest - the view is definitely worth the walk!

Pinnacle
Rising high above dense indigenous forest is the Pinnacle Rock, a tower-like freestanding quartzite buttress. A true natural wonder.

Gorge Lift and Afromontane forest (Additional Costs)
Situated in Graskop the newly constructed viewing lift takes visitors 51 metres down the face of the gorge into the forest below. The lift drops one metre per second and allows time to admire the beautiful view. At the bottom, wooden walkways & suspension bridges meander along a 600-metre trail through the indigenous Afromontane forest.
This forest type covers only 0.5% of South Africa’s land area.
It occurs in pockets along mountain ranges in well-watered areas, including ravines and south-facing slopes. Under the vivid green canopy of trees lies a lush wonderland filled with a spectacular variety of plants, animals, insects and birds. Adventurous visitors can enjoy the Big Swing, the world’s highest cable gorge swing.
