FAQ - frequently asked questions.

When is the best time to visit the Kruger National Park?
The Kruger National Park can be visited any day of the year. The African savanna eco system in which the park is located is a tropical grassland with year-round warm temperatures, though winter mornings (especially June and July) can be chilly. It is a summer rainfall region resulting in lush plant growth, flowing rivers and full waterholes during the months from December to March. The dry months (June to October) offer excellent game viewing opportunities because vegetation is less dense, visibility is better, and animals congregate at larger water sources.
What kind of facilities are available in the Kruger National Park?
The Kruger National Park offers a variety of rest stops, from commercialized restaurants in the main rest camps to rustic picnic sites with basic facilities. The main rest camps also have curio shops and a limited range of food and drink. Each safari with Twiga Travel will take your personal preferences into account.
What can i expect from a safari with Twiga Travel?
Expect the unexpected! Come with healthy expectations and leave with your very own picture perfect memories. You can take as many photos as you like or simply sit back and treasure each magical  moment. However, please bear in mind it is a safari and not a zoo. To experience all the park has to offer, we recommend at least two game drives.
What do people TYPICALLY wear on safari?
Summer days tend to be very warm with occasional late afternoon thundershowers. During winter the early mornings and evenings are cool. Clothing of a natural fabric and comfortable fit is recommended. Sun protection is highly recommended.
What about Malaria?
Both the Kruger National Park and Hoedspruit are situated in a Malaria area. Please consult a Medical Doctor before embarking on your trip.
Are Yellow Fever vaccines required to visit South Africa?
Only required if you travel from a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission. If you intend to travel further into Africa, please acquaint yourself with the country-specific requirements.
WHAT Travel documents ARE required to visit South Africa?
Travel documents required are country specific. Please visit the website of the Department of Home Affairs.  If travelling with children, please take note of the potential requirement of an Unabridged Birth Certificate.
